REPORT

This report, Efficiency Canada’s second Provincial Energy Efficiency Scorecard, assesses energy efficiency policies and outcomes introduced or implemented between January 2019 and June 2020. We released it alongside an updated database of provincial and territorial energy efficiency policies. Both the Scorecard and database are helpful reference material for policymakers and energy efficiency sector professionals.

Readers of this report will find many encouraging signs of progress and more promising developments to come. We note increased provincial action in areas such as building codes, which will need to continue as the federal government publishes updated model national codes intended to put Canada on a path to net-zero energy-ready buildings by 2030. We also see promising signs that the federal government will complement provincial energy efficiency initiatives.
