Energy Futures Lab’s Big Ideas for Our Energy Future will be an interactive speaker series in which participants are invited to connect virtually with members of the EFL network. By discussing new ideas as a community, the Lab sees an opportunity to encourage cross-pollination across all stakeholders in the energy system on the topic of how we can create the energy system the future requires of us while fuelling economic recovery in Alberta. Participants are encouraged to build connections and explore how various topics might be shaping Canada’s collective relationship with the energy landscape.

This year’s theme focuses on whether Big Data, machine learning, and electric transportation are transforming the grid. Topics will cover electric power and energy including moving toward less inertia on power systems, new application of technology in the power industry, and data science and data quality as applied to power systems.

Innovations in hydrogen, storage, EVs, carbon capture, transportation and electrification are changing how utilities, policy-makers, corporations, governments, researchers and consumers look at today’s demand for smart energy.
