Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP) in French

The process of measurement and verification (M&V) involves planning, measuring, and analyzing data to verify energy savings achieved through the implementation of energy conservation measures. This three-day CMVP course enables participants to thoroughly understand modern M&V standards, guidelines, and protocols. The CMVP program and certification serve to ensure that professionals understand essential M&V concepts by improving their ability to communicate effectively with partners, thereby leading to smoother project implementation. Completing this training and earning the CMVP certification elevates technical expertise and ethical standards in energy efficiency and performance measurement. Professionals gain the skills to effectively implement M&V principles in diverse building types including existing buildings, new constructions, and industrial facilities, and enable companies to implement cost saving activities. This program covers the nine bodies of knowledge essential to pass the CMVP exam. Topics include fundamental performance verification approaches, M&V planning, savings reporting, metering and considerations thereof, and modelling concepts. You will acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to confidently measure, verify, and report energy performance and savings in diverse contexts, including energy savings performance contracts and utility/government incentive programs. As a bonus, you will receive tips and tricks on how to use the RETScreen® Expert Clean Energy Management software along […]

Strategic Energy Management 101 (SEM 101)

Strategic energy management (SEM) is a specialized field of energy efficiency that consists of systematically understanding, controlling, and thereby reducing organizations’ energy consumption and demand along with correlated expenses and greenhouse gas emissions over time. The approach involves understanding and addressing gaps in areas such as energy and climate policies, human resource capacity, energy efficiency project development practices, monitoring and reporting systems, as well as financial resource allocations. Without a strategic approach, organizations may attempt to address energy efficiency on a piecemeal, project-by-project basis, thus resulting in unclear outcomes and unsustainable energy and demand reductions. SEM enables organizations to adopt a stable, controlled, and predictable continuous improvement cycle. The Strategic Energy Management 101 (SEM 101) course delivers multiple modules over two days. Each module entails a comprehensive presentation of concepts supported by engaging exercises and useful SEM tools, including templates and worksheets, as follows: Day one serves to emphasize an organization’s energy management strategy, assess its capacity, and address gaps in planning, financial resource allocations, and communication. Day two is focused on identifying and prioritizing energy efficiency initiatives, developing energy efficiency projects, and reporting on progress.   Organizations that adopt SEM principles have demonstrated the ability to achieve annual energy and cost […]

Advanced Building Energy Modelling

The Advanced Building Energy modelling course is focused on developing skills that energy modellers utilize in creating energy models for buildings with complex systems and using those models to conduct in-depth analyses of energy performance. This approach is now more frequently implemented for new construction projects as well as deep energy retrofits in existing buildings that need to meet the increasingly more stringent energy efficiency requirements of building codes. This course is designed for participants that completed the Building Energy Modelling Professional course or have similar knowledge. It is assumed that participants understand how building systems operate and have developed energy models in EnergyPlus for buildings with conventional systems that resulted in working energy model files. This two-day course is focused on modelling and analyzing advanced high-performance building systems using hands-on exercises and case studies. The Advance Building Energy Modelling course provides participants with the knowledge required to model high performance buildings designed to meet increasingly more stringent building code requirements.
