The Canadian Energy Efficiency Scorecard tracks provinces and territories on 45 metrics across energy efficiency programs, enabling policies, buildings, transportation and industry, providing an overall score and ranking.
It has been two years since our last Scorecard, and much has happened in the world of energy efficiency policy and programs. In 2022, Canada’s national model building codes were released. The federal government’s 2030 Emissions Reduction Plan had called for the creation of a codes acceleration fund, increased support for energy management systems, and tighter timelines for net-zero vehicle mandates. In this session, we will explore 2023 program outcomes and the progress that has been made in provincial and territorial energy efficiency policy as well as areas of opportunities and recommendations for advancing energy efficiency in Canada.
